A Bitaxe is a fully open source bitcoin miner, with a goal of making ASIC mining accessible to everyone. 

It’s ideal for hobby miners and people mining from their homes due to its low power consumption, and minimal noise output. It can be used with standard power outlets and mines over wifi, making it a good option for people who just want to plug and play. 

Bitaxes can be used as solo miners / “lottery” miners, or can be connected to mining pools with lightning payouts to collect SATs. 

You’re unlikely to see large profits from your Bitaxe miner.

Bitaxe miners are most often used as solo miners or “lottery miners” with the hope of trying to mine an entire block by itself. (currently worth 3.125 BTC) It’s a high risk/high reward method, with the odds being less favourable than winning the lottery. (However, they have already hit the jackpot twice so far!) 

The other option is to connect your Bitaxe to a mining pool like any other miner and split the rewards of block mining (usually around 10-50 SATs a day) it’s a small reward but it’s not nothing! Especially if you consider its very low power consumption.
